Star of Bethlehem

Brief History of Star of Bethlehem

The Star of Bethlehem Society was started by a few Christian brothers in St Paul's Anglican church, Oke Afa, lsolo in the year 1991, known as "Back Benchers". Back Benchers in the sense they were positively impacting the church without making a show of it. Other brethren who admired how the group did things with one accord began to call them people of like - minds.

And their number began to grow, so much so that in the year 1994, precisely second Sunday of December, Back Benchers metamorphosed into the Star of Bethlehem Society, thereby becoming the first none - church arm Society in St Paul's Oke Afa, to be inducted. It is worthy of mention that the then Lay Reader Goodhope lheanyighichukwu Kanu had suggested the name which was unanimously adopted. In order to sustain her like - mindedness, the Constitution provided for admission of only wedded couples, widows and widowers.

The Society has continued to grow numerically and contributing spiritually, physically, socially and financially to the growth of the church, her members and the larger church to the glory of God.
