Fountain of Hope
Brief History of Fountain of Hope
Fountain of hope society originated form St. Anne’s Anglican Church of Nigeria,
Molete, Ibadan, Nigeria. The Society was inaugurated in the Church on 21st July,
1968. However, the occupational mobility of the foundation members, coupled
with the creation of new states in Nigeria in 1976, provided the impetus for the
spread of the Society to other parts of the Western Nigeria.
The good Christians
fellowship exhibited by the pioneers also made it possible for them to be
accepted by their friends, mostly in the Methodist Mission and the Africa
Church.
The concept of FOHI as the apex international organization for the various
chapters of the Fountain of Hope Society was proposed at St. John’s Church,
Igbein, Abeokuta in May 1985.
This FOHI became an international organization
made up of duly registered chapters in various Churches and denominations
throughout Nigeria and the world at large. FOHI currently has 152 chapters in
Nigeria. In USA and chapters in Ghana.
